About

Zanthia Berube

Born in Quebec, Canada to French parents but grew up in the ocean's playground better known as Nova Scotia. The amalgamation of these two cultures gave her acute control of both languages French and English.

Zanthia Bérubé is a graduate of the Motion Picture Arts Program at Capilano University, Vancouver, where her interests are in movie Directing and Assistant Directing, but most importantly, storytelling. Having made her first film at the age of 12, she knew this was the career she wanted to pursue. The success of her movie The Purple Heels, which won runner-up in the fiction division of the Nova-Scotia Viewfinder film festival (now FIN Kids), created an eagerness within her to further develop her aptitudes and to tell stories that matter through the art of filmmaking.

Zanthia has worked as the first AD and film director on many different sets ranging from Independent features to documentaries. She also was AD on a branded spot for a Coca-Cola commercial and an indie feature. She has also had the privilege to direct many films, one wrapping up her 4th year at Cap. She has also been the winner of multiple Dean and Merit awards that has fueled her passion for learning about all aspects of the world of film.

Having created promotional videos for various companies' social media, she is proficient with multiple types of cameras and editing software such as Avid and Davinci Resolve.

In her free time, Zanthia enjoys performing in the circus on her unicycle and making crowds laugh with improv shows. She also loves to take time to master the art of karate. Travel is in her DNA, she has flown over many oceans, capturing through her lens the culture, the beauty, and the essence that each country has to offer and hopes to be able to do this kind of film work more often in the future.
